Ferrari Reminds The World Why It Builds The Best Supercarsadmin
Today’s example: the SF90 Stradale.
There is no other current Ferrari like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. In fact, the Italian marque’s new supercar is a pretty big deal. Why? Because it’s Ferrari’s first-ever plug-in hybrid model. Its power comes from two sources: a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and three electric motors. The V8 alone is rated at 769 horsepower. The electric motors add another 217 hp. Total combined output comes to 986 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Just to compare, the now-retired LaFerrari, a mild-hybrid, has a total output of 950 hp and 664 lb-ft. Just imagine what its eventual successor will be like.
But until that mystery vehicle arrives, the SF90 Stradale is the most technologically advanced Ferrari you can buy today. And like every Ferrari, it’s also a piece of fine art. This new Ferrari-produced video goes behind the scenes of the SF90 Stradale manufacturing process at the Maranello factory and it’s brilliant to watch.
There is no voiceover, but rather a step-by-step build process full of dazzling footage that’s nearly ten minutes long. Don’t let the time length hold you back from watching because there’s plenty of interesting things to see. Body manufacturing, the mechanical workshop, and the paint workshop are all included, as is the impressive virtual reality test center. It all culminates with the final assembly stage.
Unlike the LaFerrari, the SF90 Stradale is a series production model, meaning there’s no production cap. If you want one, you shouldn’t have any problems.
Its price tag? Around $625,000, but you’re also getting a supercar with a top speed of 211 mph and a 0-60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds. The advanced technologies packed into the car are covered by a sleek sheetmetal showcasing the next stage of Ferrari’s design language. Unlike the Ferrari F8 Tributo, the SF90 Stradale bears little to no resemblance to the 458 Italia.
